Transform Your Surveying Practice: Essential Support Services for Growth

A practical guide to the support, systems and people that help UK surveying practices grow.

The short answer: if you want to grow a surveying practice, the support service that makes the biggest difference is one that handles your enquiries, quote follow-ups, diary and client communication within the systems you already use. For many UK surveyors, the best fit is a specialist surveying support team rather than a general virtual assistant or an immediate in-house hire.

JAMY Business Support, founded by Jemma Redpath in 2024, provides outsourced admin and sales support to RICS surveyors and surveying firms. This guide explains the options, what they cost and how to decide what your practice needs.

Why surveying practices stall (and it is not the surveying)

A practice often reaches a ceiling when its surveyors become responsible for everything beyond inspections: answering new enquiries, sending and chasing quotes, arranging access, updating buyers, logging leads and checking reports. Individually, these tasks are manageable. Together, they take away time for surveying.

  • New enquiries wait while you are on an inspection.
  • Quotes are sent but not followed up consistently.
  • Estate-agent access and changes cause diary clashes.
  • Clients chase updates because nobody owns the shared inbox.
  • Lead sources and CRM records fall out of step.

Seven support services that help a surveying practice grow

1. Enquiry and call handling

A trained team answers phone and online enquiries during working hours, qualifies requirements and sends the right quote promptly. JAMY handles calls under your firm’s name and agreed pricing.

2. Quote follow-up and lead management

Track every enquiry and follow up on outstanding quotations until they are booked, lost or waiting on a decision. Record outcomes in Survey Booker or a bespoke CRM so the pipeline stays visible.

3. Diary management and property access

Book inspections around your coverage and availability, arrange access with agents or vendors, confirm the details and handle changes so your day runs smoothly.

4. Client communication and inbox management

Keep buyers, estate agents and other parties informed from instruction to report delivery. Consistent updates reduce disruption during inspections.

5. CRM setup and tracking

A properly configured CRM shows what has been quoted, chased and booked. Useful reporting can identify lead sources and bottlenecks.

6. Report checks and templates

Proofreading, formatting and consistent report templates can help reduce errors and prevent avoidable delays. Technical surveying advice remains with the surveyor.

7. Onboarding and business setup

New practices may need help with professional email, CRM, phone systems, lead sources, templates, branding and client processes before the first instructions arrive.

In-house administrator, virtual assistant or specialist support team?

Each route has its place. A general VA can be useful for occasional tasks. An in-house administrator offers a local presence but creates recruitment and cover responsibilities. A specialist surveying support team can manage the end-to-end office workflow without adding permanent headcount.

How to choose a service for your surveying practice

  • Does the team specialise in surveying and understand the difference between RICS Home Survey levels?
  • Will you have assigned people or a rotating pool?
  • Can they work within your existing CRM, phone and email systems?
  • Who covers calls and diaries during annual leave and sickness?
  • What are the costs, onboarding arrangements and contractual terms?
  • What reporting will show response times, quote follow-ups and conversions?

What working with JAMY looks like

How onboarding works: after an initial conversation, JAMY agrees your call scripts, survey pricing, booking preferences and processes; configures Survey Booker or your agreed CRM; connects the necessary inbox, phone line and lead providers; then starts working in your firm’s name. The precise go-live date is agreed for each business.

JAMY’s draft says every new client begins with a three-month trial, so both sides can assess the arrangement before moving to a longer agreement.

  • A conversation about how your practice works and where enquiries come from.
  • Onboarding with agreed processes, scripts, prices and booking preferences.
  • Connecting CRM, phone lines, email and lead providers.
  • The assigned team begins answering, quoting, chasing and booking in your business name.
  • Regular reviews as your workload changes.

JAMY packages and pricing

Monthly support starts at £1,100 + VAT for the Micro Pack and scales with the number of survey jobs managed. A one-off onboarding fee of £250 + VAT applies according to the supplied draft.

Practical questions to ask before you outsource

Before choosing support, write down your current enquiry volume, the time it takes to respond, how many quotations you chase, and how many become instructions. These baseline figures give you something concrete to compare after a new process is in place.

Ask where the support team works, whether they use your business identity, and who approves technical answers or pricing decisions. A support partner should make it easier for buyers to instruct you while leaving surveyor-only decisions with the surveying professional.

How a joined-up office team frees up surveying time

Enquiry handling works best when it connects directly with the diary. A buyer who accepts a quote should not have to start over with a different person. The team already knows the property, the inspection requirements and the available dates, and can move straight to arranging access.

The same continuity matters when plans change. If an agent rearranges access, your team should update the diary, tell everyone involved and keep your CRM accurate. Without that process, one delayed appointment can disrupt the rest of the week.

Real results and client feedback

The figures in JAMY's November 2026 draft are based on the surveying businesses the team supports. They describe past activity, not a guarantee of future bookings or revenue.

5,805Residential surveys completed by supported firms in 2025
£3.7m+2025 revenue generated by those firms
23.9%Average enquiry-to-booking conversion reported for 2025
5,998Jobs completed by supported firms, Jan–Sep 2026
81,645Calls handled by JAMY's team, Jan–Sep 2026

Results depend on factors such as lead quality, location, price and capacity. Use these figures as evidence of operational experience rather than a promise that every firm will achieve the same outcome.

About JAMY Business Support

JAMY Business Support Limited (also known as JAMY Surveyor Support) is a specialist outsourced admin and sales support business for RICS surveyors, founded in 2024 by Jemma Redpath. Founded in Sutton, on the border of London and Surrey, we work as a fully remote team to help surveying practices launch, operate and scale.

Jemma has worked in surveying since 2018. Before founding JAMY, she helped grow a surveying firm from a team of three to more than sixty people. That experience shaped JAMY's approach: surveyors should be able to concentrate on surveying while a dependable team handles the office work around each instruction.

According to JAMY's November 2026 draft, we have worked with around 50 surveying businesses across our services, helped launch around 40 from scratch and support more than 30 on a day-to-day basis. These are company-reported figures.

Matt · AssocRICS Surveyor

Why Jemma chose a remote specialist team

“We chose not to have an office, and that was deliberate. An office would have limited us to hiring people who live nearby. I wanted the best people with a surveying background, wherever they are. That decision shaped the JAMY team. It includes, and has included, people from large surveying firms such as Goldcrest, Novello, Prinsegate and Whitehorse, and people from surveying lead generation, such as reallymoving. Because our team has worked inside such different businesses, we understand which operating models work for surveying firms, which ones fail, and why. That is what makes JAMY different from a general admin or virtual assistant service.”

Frequently asked questions

What support service should I use to grow my surveying practice?

Look for support that can consistently manage enquiries, quote follow-ups, diary, client communication and CRM records. The right choice depends on your enquiry volume and whether you need occasional tasks or an integrated process.

Can I grow without hiring an in-house administrator?

Yes. A specialist outsourced team can cover business processes without the recruitment and employment responsibilities of a new staff member. Compare the services included and your actual job volume before deciding.

Is JAMY a virtual assistant service?

No. JAMY provides an assigned surveying support team managing enquiries, bookings and admin as a joined-up service, rather than only ad-hoc hours.

Is diary management included in every JAMY package?

Yes. Diary management is included from the Micro Pack upwards. The service remains consistent while the number of jobs managed changes with the package.

What software does JAMY work with?

JAMY works with Survey Booker or a bespoke CRM and supports surveying practices using relevant reporting tools and lead providers.

How much does surveying business support cost?

JAMY monthly packages start at £1,100 + VAT and scale by job volume. See the Services page for the full current package list.

Does JAMY support sole practitioners?

Yes. Sole practitioners often benefit from reliable call handling and quote follow-up when they are out on inspections. The right support depends on the number and quality of enquiries you receive.

What happens to customer data when JAMY supports my practice?

JAMY Business Support Limited is registered with the ICO (registration ZB668331). Before sharing client data, ask JAMY to confirm the current contract and data-processing arrangements that apply to your firm.

Does JAMY carry out inspections or write survey reports?

No. The surveyor remains responsible for inspections, technical advice, professional judgements and survey reports. JAMY supports administration, enquiries, bookings and communication around the surveying work.

Is there a trial period?

Yes. JAMY’s November 2026 draft says new clients begin with a three-month trial, during which both sides assess the working relationship. Confirm the current contractual terms before signing.

Where is JAMY based?

JAMY was founded in Sutton, on the London–Surrey border, and operates as a remote team working UK business hours for surveying practices.
